About
Excel Hero is a website and blog run by Microsoft Excel MVP, .The point of the sites is to give you the inspiration and knowledge to become an Excel Hero in your workplace. As a tool, Excel is not used anywhere near its potential by 99.999% of its users.
If you are reading my blog for the first time, may I suggest you start with all of my January 2010 posts. They should give you an idea of my direction and focus.
Some say I like to stretch what Excel can do. Instead, I feel that I like to stretch what the average user "thinks" Excel can do.
So who am I? I'm a programmer with 25 years of experience. I specialized in VB programs for a very long time and in the last several years have focused intensely on JavaScript, CSS, and HTML, which funny enough I do not use on this site and blog (I wanted to learn MovableType and thus far have been faithful to it).
I cut my Excel teeth on very early versions in the early 1990s. Before that I used Lotus123. I am completely self taught in the Excel arena and gained most of my knowledge while creating systems to run a large logistics company that I managed for 15 years. I've had hundreds of clients and successfully completed thousands of projects since.
To this day, I earn my living as a professional freelance developer, and am usually interested in looking at new projects.
I live in the mountains of California and can be reached at:

Right now I am gearing up to start a one-of-a-kind training program called Excel Hero Academy. If you like my work and want to learn how to do it yourself, please look into the academy.
